Research Option
The Research Option aims at preparing students for postgraduate study such as MPhil or PhD at graduate schools, or for a career in technology development and management in high-tech companies worldwide after graduation.

Curriculum and program requirement
Students in the CPEG Research Option are required to complete the following 3 requirements in addition to fulfilling the CPEG major requirements.
  • Final Year Thesis (FYT)
  • One 3-Credit COMP course at 5000-level OR
    (ELEC 5900 Modern Engineering Research Methodologies and UROP 1100 Undergraduate Research Opportunities course)
  • 3 credits of PG-level COMP/ELEC course approved by advisor
Application procedure and deadline

CPEG students who wish to declare in Research Option should submit the followings to CPEG Office:

Students must declare/withdraw from the option no later than the last day of the add/drop period in the first regular term of their final year of study.

Curriculum of other years of entry
Students must follow the curriculum of the year of entry throughout their program of study of Research Option. Details of the degree requirements can be found in Curriculum Handbook of the year of study.
